Why iOS 14.5 will be ‘important’ for iPhone 11 series users

If you are an iPhone 11 series owner and found that the battery health of your iPhone is drastically low then don’t worry as it is due to a bug and Apple is soon going to roll out a fix for it.
“iOS 14.5, coming later this spring, includes an update where the battery health reporting system will recalibrate maximum battery capacity and peak performance capability on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max to address inaccurate estimates of battery health reporting for some users,” said the company in a support document.
Apple says that those who are suffering from this issue may witness unexpected battery drain and even reduced peak performance capability.
Once users update their iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, or iPhone 11 Pro Max to iOS 14.5 by heading to Settings > Battery > Battery Health they will see a message, which would mean that the battery health reporting system on their iPhone is recalibrating.
“Your battery health reporting system is recalibrating Maximum Capacity and Peak Performance Capability. This process may take a few weeks,” will read the message.
After the recalibration process is successful, the message will be removed and the maximum capacity percentage will be updated.
However, in case the recalibration of the battery health reporting system was not successful, users will see a message that reads, “Recalibration of the battery health reporting system was not successful. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can replace the battery free of charge to restore full performance and capacity.”
Users are advised to wait until recalibration is complete to contact AppleCare or visit an Authorized Service Provider. In case a user is approaching the end of their warranty period, a complimentary extension to battery coverage will be provided by Apple. Further, if a user had previously paid for an out of warranty battery replacement from an Authorized Service Provider after seeing a degraded battery message or from experiencing unexpected battery behaviour, the company will be providing them a refund through AppleCare.
