Seer’s death: CBI probe notification issued

LUCKNOW: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) of the central government on Thursday issued a notification paving the way for a CBI probe in the death of mahant Narendra Giri in Prayagraj. It was confirmed by state home officials.
The notification was issued hours after a five-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Delhi reached Prayagraj for a preliminary inquiry into the death of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad chief mahant Narendra Giri.
As per the rules, after the notification, the case is marked to a suitable branch of the central agency.
Then an FIR is written and thereafter probe teams are dispatched to the crime scene along with forensic experts.
CBI had also visited the Bagambhari Math in Prayagraj where Giri had allegedly ended his life earlier in the day.
