Next Party President Selection Process Set in Motion: Congress
On Saturday Congress(I) declared that Sonia Gandhi has made organizational changes after authorization from the party’s working committee.Process for Selecting Party President in motion by creating an election authority.
Congress’ chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that he had not seen a single statement by any Congress leader on this issue and cannot comment on that when he was asked about the organizational changes made by Gandhi.Reports was there that few leaders have written to her for party reforms.
“In CWC meeting almost all Congress workers and leaders unanimously expressed full confidence in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.Some of them urged him to take over as Congress president,” Mr. Surjewala said at an online press conference.
Mr. Surjewala said, at present moment he can not comment on “Creation of Election Authority for the election of president in motion”.
When insisted Mr. Surjewala recalled Sonia Gandhi’s remarks where she had said that “Our job is to fight with Modi government and its anti-people policies and not fight with each other and all of us are working towards single goal, like Arjuna used to have only look at the eye of the fish”.
When enquired about organizational changes done by Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Surjewala said that “change is part of a continuous process” and Congress Working Committee had decided that she should make all organizational changes from fresh, based on which she made these changes.
Many new faces have been introduced and many senior people of the party also have received fair chance .Many existing members have been given more power to continue and serve the organization for benefit of organization.
Party President Sonia Gandhi have removed many aged party persons from CWC likes of veteran Motilal Vora, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni and Mallikarjun Kharge from AICC general secretaries designations.
New CWC has been reconstituted and Mr. P Chidambaram, Randeep Surjewala, Tariq Anwar and Jitendra Singh appointed as regular members of newly constituted CWC.
Mrs. Gandhi also formed a six-member special committee to assist her in organizational matters. Reconstitution of central election authority for AICC with Chairman Madhusudan Mistry and Krishna Byre Gowda, S Jothimani, Rajesh Misra and Arvinder Singh Lovely as its members.
Mrs. Gandhi, left for US on Saturday for a routine medical check-up as per sources close to her said.She is expected to return in last week of September and would miss more than half of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.She is accompanied by Rahul Gandhi, who is expected to return within a week,.
Her medical check-up was overdue and was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the sources said.She had cleared the Congress’ organisational restructuring before departing for her medical check-up.
